Nevil Edmund Croston
Senior Partner, Solicitor and head of the firm's civil litigation department. With more than 25 years of litigation experience Nevil offers practical and professional advice on employment law, personal injury, partnership and company formations and dissolution, drafting of commercial contracts and grants and contentious probate. Nevil is a member of the association of personal injury lawyers and an accredited civil mediator. He is also audit committee chair for a large further education college. Nevil is married with two adult children. Outside of work Nevil enjoys all outdoor pursuits including mountaineering, cycling, walking and taking skiing holidays.
Solicitor and head of the firm's family law team, Angela joined Bryan & Armstrong in 1983 and has built up a strong reputation offering expert advice in family law related matters including divorce, complex financial family cases and children cases. She is a collaborative lawyer and an experienced family law mediator. Angela is married with two adult children. She enjoys keeping fit by swimming, jogging and taking walking holidays.
Managing partner, Solicitor and head of the firm's property and private client departments. Susan joined the firm in 1993 as a trainee before progressing and qualifying as a Solicitor. Susan offers specialist advice in commercial and residential property services for individuals, businesses and charities, covering the preparation and negotiation of leases (both for landlord and tenants) to commercial acquisitions such as pubs, restaurants, shops, industrial units and warehouses and even one time a bridge! She also acts on the acquisition and disposal of land for large-scale commercial projects. Susan is married with two adult children and has lived locally all of her life. She enjoys taking family holidays, cooking, walking and gardening.
Solicitor and former president of Nottingham law society. Having originally come to work for the firm during his summer holidays, Mr Armstrong extended Paul's stay at the firm where he was employed as an articled clerk before progressing and qualifying as a Solicitor. Paul rose to the heights of senior partner of the firm and built up a strong reputation for Criminal and Mental Health representation. He is a member of Specialist Criminal and Mental Health Panels. He has special expertise in serious crime, mental health law and company law. Paul retired in 2008 and continues to act as a consultant to the firm. He is married with three adult children and enjoys family holidays and walking.
Catherine Walker TEP
Catherine is a Chartered Legal Executive and having been with the firm for many years is now a salaried partner. Catherine has a well established reputation with her clients and peers following over 20 years’ experience in practising private client law. Catherine is a full Member of Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the sub-Mental Capacity Special Interest Group within STEP. She is also a fully accredited Member of Solicitors for the Elderly and is a Member of both the Law Society Private Client Section and Court of Protection Users Group.
Catherine can assist in all areas of private client law including Wills, probate, trusts, estate administration, tax planning, Lasting Powers of Attorney and applications to the Court of Protection.
Jayne was born and bred in the Mansfield area, she attended school locally and then moved on to take her degree and diploma at Nottingham Trent University. Jayne undertook her training contract locally and qualified as a Solicitor in 1999. Since which time, Jayne has specialised in all aspects of Family Law. Jayne has a keen interest in Public Law Care proceedings and gained the additional qualification to become a member of the Children Panel in 2006. Jayne is also experienced at dealing with all aspects of private Children Act cases and in particular conducts the majority of all advocacy arising from her cases. Jayne is a member of Resolution and has additional specialist accreditation in the areas of Financial matters arising from divorce and also Domestic Abuse. Jayne also has expericence in Civil Litigation and Personal Injury.
In her spare time Jayne enjoys spending time with her family and friends and walking her dog. She also enjoys trips to the theatre and swimming.
Elizabeth joined the firm in 2018 as a Solicitor in the Litigation department specialising in Civil Litigation, and Employment and Family Law. Elizabeth has a double diploma in French and English Law as well as a Masters in European Business Law. Having worked for an international firm in Paris, ranking in the top 5 Legal 500 in International Arbitration, she has moved back to Nottingham to be closer to family. She has a wide range of knowledge in domestic and international litigation and we are delighted that she is now a much valued member of our team.
Elizabeth is also fluent in French and Yoruba.
In her spare time she enjoys travelling and socialising with family and friends.
Melissa joined us in 2019 as a Commercial Property Solicitor, having obtained several years of valuable experience in this department and having completed her training contract with another firm. Melissa has experience of both Commercial and Residential conveyancing. Melissa joins our growing property team and has brought a new dynamic to the department!
In her spare time she enjoys cooking and socialising with friends and family.
Emma joined us in 2019 as a Solicitor within our esteemed Wills and Probate department. Emma successfully graduated from Northumbria University achieving a first-class honour degree. She then returned to her roots to complete her training contract locally.
Emma deals with a wide range of matters including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Administration of Estate.
Emma has just successfully completed her examinations to qualify as a Notary Public and is well on her way to being able to join the select few that are able to provide this specialist service and the first holder of this position in Mansfield for many years.
Outside of work Emma enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Carol qualified as a Solicitor in January 2007 and has since then gained experience in both Commercial and Residential property transactions. She joins and enhances our fabulous residential team, working alongside the vastly experienced Janet Godfrey.
Outside of work Carol enjoys spending time with her young son. She also enjoys walking her dog, cycling and is a keen gardener.
Becky joined the firm in 2005 and has since become an Affiliate of the Institute of Legal Executives. Becky specialises in Family Law and has a particular interest in children act proceedings, divorce and financial matters; although she assists in all areas of family work. Becky lives locally and enjoys socialising with family and friends in her spare time.
Janet originally joined the firm in 2007 as a Conveyancer having spent the previous eighteen years working in Residential Conveyancing. She specialises in the buying and selling of properties particularly in the local area where she has considerable knowledge.
Her spare time is spent walking in the countryside with her faithful dog.
Accounts manager Carol assists the partners in the effective and efficient management of Bryan and Armstrong. Carol is a member of the Institute of Legal Cashiers and has successfully completed diplomas in Practice Management and Accounts. Carol is married with one son, she enjoys family holidays, socialising, Pilates and aerobics.
